Design and Multimedia Lead
The Design & Media Lead ensures PyLadiesCon presents a cohesive, vibrant, and accessible visual identity across all platforms from the conference website to digital content, videos, and social media. This role blends creative direction, communication design, and community collaboration to visually express the spirit of PyLadiesCon and its mission of inclusion and empowerment.
Core Deliverables
PyLadiesCon visual identity package (logo, typography, color palette, usage guide).
Design assets for website, blog, and social media.
Media templates (speaker intro slides, video overlays, thumbnails).
Updated visual content for key website sections:
- About
- Program / Schedule
- Speakers & Keynotes
- Sponsorship
- Volunteer Information
Skills & Tools
- Strong visual design sense and attention to brand cohesion.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with website collaboration (HTML/CSS basics, GitHub, or Pretalx a plus).
- Video editing tools knowledge.
- Understanding of accessibility in design and media.

Collaboration
Works closely with:
- Website Lead – to align site implementation with design standards.
- Communications & Content Leads – to support messaging with visuals.
- Sponsorship Lead – to display and brand sponsor materials appropriately.
- Volunteer & Speaker Coordinators – for visual storytelling and recognition.
Social Media Lead
The Social Media Design Lead brings PyLadiesCon’s voice to life through visuals — turning announcements, quotes, and stories into eye-catching, on-brand graphics. This role helps shape how the world sees and feels the energy of PyLadiesCon across every platform.
Key Responsibilities

Work under the Design & Multimedia Lead to maintain visual consistency across all social platforms.

Design graphics and motion content for posts on Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Mastodon.

Collaborate with the Social Media and Communications teams to turn key updates (speaker reveals, CFPs, registration, sponsors, volunteer calls) into engaging visuals.

Create templates for recurring post types (speaker cards, countdowns, quotes, behind-the-scenes highlights).

Ensure accessibility and readability — clear text, good contrast, alt text when applicable.

Keep shared design folders and assets organized for easy use by other volunteers.
Post Production Lead
The Post-Production Lead ensures that all recorded materials — speaker talks, MC introductions, interviews, and highlight reels are polished, cohesive, and ready for publication. You’ll turn raw video and audio into professional, engaging content that reflects the PyLadiesCon spirit and visual identity.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the editing and finalization of recorded videos before public release.

Ensure visual and audio consistency across all conference videos — intros, outros, transitions, captions, and overlays.

Collaborate with the Program Teams and Speakers to receive raw footage with quality audio and video files.

Ensure caption accuracy and accessibility compliance in all final exports.

Assist the upload queue to official platforms (YouTube, website, etc.).

Coordinate with the post production producer and ensures captioning and MC volunteers provide accurate files for post production team.
Processes
Design Coordination

Define and maintain the overall design system (colors, typography, illustrations, layout guidelines) in collaboration with the organizing committee.

Create design templates and assets for various teams — e.g., promotional graphics, speaker cards, volunteer spotlights, presentation slides, and event backdrops.

Collaborate with illustrators, designers, and content creators to ensure visual consistency across materials.

Approve visual content before publication.
Website Design & Support

Work with the Website Lead to translate the conference’s visual identity into the site’s layout, typography, and imagery.

Review and guide implementation of design elements and UI/UX aspects.

Coordinate with other leads to ensure that all website sections (About, Program, Speakers, Sponsors, Volunteers, etc.) are aligned in look and tone.

Provide visual assets for new sections or updates (e.g., banners, icons, sponsor logos).
Media Production & Content

Oversee creation of promotional videos, reels, and motion graphics for social channels and event sessions.

Coordinate with the Communications and Content teams to produce and schedule visuals for announcements, blog posts, and social media campaigns.

Support speaker and volunteer video projects with templates, overlays, and style guides.

Ensure accessibility best practices (alt text, contrast, captions) are met in all media.
Collaboration & Mentorship

Enable and guide new contributors (designers, editors, developers) to join ongoing design and media tasks.

Document workflows and tools for easy onboarding.

Maintain an open, collaborative environment that encourages creativity and inclusivity.
